Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I register for a CredFolio account?
Access to CredFolio is currently by invitation only. If you are issued a credential by an organisation subscribed to the platform, you will receive an email inviting you to register. Simply follow the instructions in the email to complete the process and access your credential.
Can I migrate my CredFolio account to a new email address?
It is not currently possible to migrate your credentials to a different account. We are introducing new features to CredFolio all the time so please continue to monitor this FAQ for updates.
Can I make changes to my credentials?
Credentials issued to CredFolio are immutable, meaning they cannot be changed or updated. However, you can personalise some credentials by (for example) uploading a photo. You will see a relevant prompt (where supported) when sharing your credential for the first time (see ‘How do I share my credential?’).
How do I share my credential?
To share your credential:
- click ‘View’ to access the detail view of the credential you’d like to share
- click the ‘Share’ button
- provide custom content (where supported), such as a profile photo
- click ‘Share’
A digitally verifiable presentation will then appear in the ‘Shared’ tab. You can post a link to this presentation to your socials or provide it to anyone you wish to share your credential with.
I have a credential marked ‘Valid’. What does this mean?
The validity of your credential is assured through complex cryptography and interactions with a public ledger. The ‘Valid’ tag indicates your credential has been successfully registered and is ready to share.
I have a credential marked ‘Pending’. What does this mean?
The validity of your credential is assured through complex cryptography and interactions with a public ledger. The ‘Pending’ tag indicates your credential is in the process of being registered but is not yet ready to share. Once the process concludes (generally within a few minutes), your credential will appear as ‘Valid’ and can then be shared.
I have a credential marked ‘Revoked’. What does this mean?
The issuer of your credential may revoke it for a variety of reasons (e.g. a grade previously reported may have changed). Once a credential is revoked, it can no longer be shared. However, depending on the circumstances, a new credential may be issued to replace the one that was revoked. If this occurs, you should expect to see two instances of the credential in your CredFolio wallet; one marked ‘Valid’ and one ‘Revoked’. If your credential has been revoked and you are unsure why, please contact the issuer for further information. It's also important that you delete any shared presentations which include the revoked credential and (if applicable) create a new one using the reissued version.
Who has access to my credentials?
Your credentials are held in secure, encrypted storage and are accessible only to you via your CredFolio account. If you choose to share your credentials, CredFolio creates a secure copy (called a verifiable presentation), which can be accessed via URL. This allows you to share your achievements in a digitally verifiable format without providing direct access to your credentials.
